UPCOMING EVENTS
March 3, 2012; 1:00-3:00 pm - Due to the major snowstorm hitting our area on February 4th, we had to cancel the February meeting and silent auction. But don't worry...we've just rescheduled it for March! So now you won't miss a minute of the excitement. So clean out your drawers and boxes and bring your excess magic tricks, props, dvds, etc. Last year everyone had a blast, so get ready for some great deals and see you on the 3rd.
March 10, 2012; 2:00-3:00 pm - Club magicians (Luis Villamonte, Robertus Von Lincoln, Chase Hasty, Jerod Cernousek, Bruce Jacoby) and members are going to be at Barnes and Noble Bookstore (2910 Pine Lake Road, Southpointe Pavillion) to support the community bookfair for McPhee Elementary School. We'll be doing some walkaround magic among the kids and shoppers and handing out club flyers to those who are interested. We encourage all of our newer members to learn one specific trick or effect for this event and come out and practice those all-important people and presentation skills (Members should also post a note in the LMC forum so we know who all is going to be there.).
AND IT'S HISTORY...
February 4, 2012 - Major snow day! As a result, we cancelled our meeting and auction. Everything will be rescheduled for March... See everyone then... And don't forget to click HERE to access our February Newsletter. Know someone who's interested in magic?... Why not forward them a copy?
January 7, 2012 - We've had a great start to 2012 with the January LMC meeting. Lots of folks were in attendance. While the officers were holding their regular meeting, Chase worked through some material from Bobo's Coin Magic for the youth. Afterwards Luis Villamonte, the club president, mentioned some upcoming events, etc. Then we dove right into the main part of the club meeting.
This month we had four officers - Luis Villamonte, Bruce Jacoby, Mark Robertson, and Robert Overkamp - break out into separate areas of the building to each present a mini-lecture. Then after about 20-30 minutes, the attendees in each room rotated on to the next area for the next lecture.
Lecture topics included sponge ball material (Bruce), coin magic and the wand principle (Mark), how a story can tie together various tricks or elevate simple/inexpensive tricks (Robert), and some misc. and card magic (Luis).
After the meeting folks stuck around for a bit to discuss magic or purchased some stuff from the magic shop. We also had some new faces fill out membership cards - Welcome! Lots of good information was shared, new friends were made, and fun was had. And all in just the first meeting of the year!
December 16, 2011 - Thanks to all who came out to celebrate the holidays at our annual Christmas party. Lots of food and fun with a grand show (several acts from the Club's own magicians). After the show we had a blast finishing things up with the much anticipated white elephant Christmas gift exchange! Enjoy some of the pictures of the evening:
November 5, 2011 - At the beginning of November's meeting, Bruce Jacoby and others practiced some card magic. Following that we were entertained with a one-hour show by one of our club's own mentalists Robert Overkamp (aka "Robertus Von Lincoln"). His performance presented several exciting demonstrations in E.S.P.!
October (weekends)- Vincent Villamonte performed several weekend shows at the Roca Berry Farm Pumpkin Patch.
October 15, 2011 - We had a great lecture by Texas close-up magician Diamond Jim Taylor. He showed us some great stuff and some new ways of looking at things. Everybody had a great time and we were happy to be Diamond Jim's first visit to Nebraska! Here are some pictures from the evening:

October 8, 2011 - Bruce Jacoby, one of our magicians, performed several successful shows at Earl May Nurseries in Lincoln (48th & Hwy 2) . All enjoyed the colorful and fun event!

October 7, 2011 - We have released our new L.M.C. website design. A few minor parts are still under construction so please be patient with us as we put on the finishing touches.
October 1, 2011 - October's club meeting theme was "Spooky" magic!
The Lincoln Magic Club starts out each meeting by having one of the club officers teach "The Trick of the Month." Robert Overkamp, taught "ESP Surprise," where the magician and spectator each choose a card from a deck behind their backs and when revealed, they both match. Amazing, right? Youth coordinator, Chase Hastey, volunteered to perform the trick in front of the club after it was taught by Robert. Chase aced it!
On to Spooooooky Maaaaaagic... Luis Villamonte started things off by inserting a 6-inch nail far enough into his nose to creep out certain club members. Yikes and eww! Mark Robertson called upon the spirit of his dearly departed "Uncle George" to perform "Hyrum the Haunted Hank" with his "Problematic Dice." Uncle George did not disappoint. And, Vizma Shaeffer performed a trick from her childhood, the "Thumb Pin-Cushion."
Many of the club youth got in on the fun and performed tricks as well. Jenny Villamonte performed the "Finger Chopper," as well as "Dice Bomb" and said the dice were ghosts. Gus Shaeffer performed for the first time in front of the club with the "Zig-zag Skeleton." Go Gus! And, Louie Villamonte did an outstanding performance of the "Haunted Key."
Finally, newly-elected Secretary Treasurer, Vizma Shaeffer, was presented her SAM membership card, certificate, and pin by club president Luis Villamonte. Here's a picture of the moment:
